Dr Anand Saggar

Dr Anand Saggar is a Senior Consultant in Clinical Genetics at St Georges NHS Trust. He trained at St Bartholomew’s Medical School University of London and qualified in 1982.

Dr Saggar began his career at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and then went on to work in several London Teaching Hospitals.

He has a comprehensive record of experience in:

  • genetics
  • respiratory medicine
  • diabetes/endocrinology
  • cardiology
  • intensive care
  • nephrology (kidney disorders)
  • neurology.

He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.

He is part of a multidisciplinary team, which he led for 3 years, providing services for a population of 2.7 million people in the South West Thames Region.

His specific interests include:

  • inherited kidney diseases
  • paediatric dysmorphology
  • adult onset genetic conditions
  • hypertension
  • tuberous sclerosis
  • cancer family histories
  • thrombophillia
  • Huntington’s disease.Dr Saggar has published over 40 papers and continues to publish actively.

He is a founder director and medical adviser to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Charity (UK) and President-Elect of the Medical Genetics section at the Royal Society of Medicine. Previously he was Secretary of the Clinical Genetics Society, the UK professional society for Clinical Geneticists.

Personal Interests include; the arts, good food, travel, skiing and scuba diving (for which he holds an instructor qualification).
